What we collect while you practise, why we need it, and how you stay in control of it.

This policy explains how LingaLive handles your personal data when you use our website and IELTS practice app. By using LingaLive, you agree to the practices described here.

What we collect

  • Account details: your name, email address and a hashed password. If you sign in with Google or Facebook, we receive your name and email address, and your profile picture where the provider shares it. We never see your Google or Facebook password.
  • Profile details you choose to add, such as your test date and a contact phone number. The phone number is required only when you request an expert review, so the specialist can reach you.
  • Your study record: answers to practice and mock tests, scores, band estimates, words learned, XP, levels and daily activity statistics.
  • Writing and Speaking work: the essays you submit, and for Speaking, your recording and its transcript, so they can be assessed.
  • Payments: for bKash top-ups, the pack you chose, the bKash number you sent from and the TrxID. We do not receive your bKash PIN or account balance.
  • Messages you send us through the contact form or by email.
  • Basic technical data: IP address, browser type and request logs, kept for security and to fix errors.

How we use it

  • To run your account, mark your answers on our servers and show your scores, feedback and progress.
  • To produce AI assessments of your Writing and Speaking, and AI progress analyses when you request them. Your learner profile is built from your own record and examiner feedback.
  • To send an expert review request to a human IELTS specialist, who sees the study evidence frozen with that request and your contact number.
  • To confirm bKash payments, add credits and keep an accurate credit ledger.
  • To send reminders you have turned on, such as a daily vocabulary reminder, and to answer support messages.
  • To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and fraud, and meet our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Who processes it

  • Our IELTS assessment AI, which we have tuned for Bangladeshi IELTS candidates, and the secure infrastructure it runs on, receive the essay, transcript, recording or study statistics needed for an assessment or analysis you request. We send only the work itself, not your email address or phone number.
  • Cloud storage (Cloudflare R2) holds uploaded files such as Speaking recordings.
  • Google and Facebook, only if you choose to sign in with them.
  • Our hosting and database providers, who store data on our behalf.
  • LingaLive staff and contracted IELTS specialists, with access limited to their role. Staff actions on learner accounts are recorded in an audit log.

We may also disclose data where the law requires it.

Cookies and local storage

  • A secure, http-only cookie keeps you signed in, and a small hint cookie lets the site know you are signed in. Neither is used for tracking.
  • If you arrive through an invite link, a referral cookie remembers who invited you, so both of you receive the referral reward.
  • Your browser stores preferences such as light or dark theme.
  • We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics trackers. Google and Facebook may set their own cookies if you use their sign-in buttons.

How long we keep it

  • We keep your account and study record while your account is open, so your progress and history remain available to you.
  • Payment and credit ledger records are kept as long as needed for accounting and dispute handling, even after an account is closed.
  • When you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we must keep it by law.

Your choices and rights

  • You can see and correct your profile details in the app at any time.
  • You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account, by writing to us from the email address on your account.
  • You can turn optional reminders off at any time.

Security

  • Passwords are hashed, connections are encrypted, and correct answers and credit balances are handled on our servers rather than in your browser. No system is perfectly secure, so if you think your account has been misused, contact us straight away.

Children

  • LingaLive is intended for IELTS candidates aged 16 and over. If you are younger, please use it with a parent or guardian’s permission. If you believe a child has given us data without that permission, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

  • If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and the date at the top. For significant changes, we will also tell you in the app or by email.
