Writing model answers
See what a band 8–9 answer
to your exact question looks like.
Your AI feedback shows what holds your Writing back. A model answer shows what a stronger response looks like, for the same task, with a short analysis of why it earns its band.
- A band 8–9 model answer for every Writing Task 1 and Task 2
- The band it earns, plus a note on all four IELTS criteria
- Task 1 answers quote the real figures from the chart or table
- Save the task, answer and analysis as one PDF
- Pay once per task (10 credits), reopen it free, no waiting

Some people think that public libraries are no longer necessary because information can be found on the internet. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
The suggestion that libraries have become redundant because the internet supplies every answer is tempting, but I largely disagree with it. Online resources have transformed how we look for facts, yet libraries continue to serve purposes that no website can replace.
However, information that is easy to find is not necessarily reliable or complete. Much scholarly writing, including journal articles and specialist books, sits behind subscriptions that individuals rarely afford, whereas libraries pay for access and extend it free of charge to every member. Librarians also help people judge the quality of sources, a skill that becomes more valuable as misleading content spreads online.

Why this earns Band 8.5
This response takes a clear, consistent position and develops both sides of the question with convincing examples. Its precise vocabulary, smooth progression and wide, accurate range of structures place it at Band 8.5.
- Task Response
- The position is stated in the first paragraph and sustained to the end. Each argument is developed with a concrete example.
- Coherence and Cohesion
- Each paragraph has one controlling idea, signalled by openers such as “It is true that” and “However”.
- Lexical Resource
- Collocations such as “settle most casual queries” and “widen existing inequalities” are natural and precise.
- Grammatical Range and Accuracy
- Complex sentences, relative clauses and a “whereas” contrast, with accurate punctuation and tense control.
